BMW has detailed Australian pricing and specifications for its overhauled X7 SUV ahead of first vehicles arriving in the fourth quarter of 2022.

UPDATE, 20/07/2023 11:00 – BMW Australia has announced the entry-level X7 xDrive40i will be joining the range in the fourth quarter of 2023. It’s priced from $167,900 before on-road costs.

UPDATE, 11/11/22 08:00 – Our review of the updated X7 is now live. You can check it out here.

Pricing starts at $167,900 before on-road costs for the entry-level xDrive40i and extends to $205,900 before on-road costs for the flagship M60i.

There’s a new look, with split-level lighting up front and a rear LED light bar with a three-dimensional design.

Inside, the X7 has gained the latest OS8.0 infotainment system that debuted in the i4 and iX electric cars. It combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central touchscreen, with an intelligent personal assistant, a central rotary dial, and touch inputs.

The range-topping M60i uses a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine derived from that used by the X5 M Competition which produces 390kW of power and 750Nm of torque.

Although the engine itself is new, those outputs are unchanged to the outgoing M50i.

The new xDrive40d packs 259kW and 720Nm from its 3.0-litre inline-six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, up 64kW and 100Nm on the outgoing xDrive30d.

Other new notable features that are available for the first time on the X7 include an optional six-seat configuration and 23-inch alloy wheels.

BMW claims the X7 xDrive40i can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 5.8 seconds.

The BMW X7 xDrive40d is powered by a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system, with total system outputs of 259kW of power and 720Nm of torque.

BMW claims the X7 xDrive40d can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds.

All the engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with drive sent to all four wheels through an xDrive all-wheel drive system.

Both models have a 48V mild-hybrid system which comprises a crankshaft-mounted starter generator integrated into the transmission and contributes an additional 9kW and 200Nm.
