The electric Peugeot e-2008 crossover will be priced at $59,900 before on-road costs when it arrives here later this year.
Peugeot says a “limited initial allocation” will arrive in showrooms in the third quarter of 2023.
The new electric SUV is available to pre-order now.
It’s distinguished from regular 2008 models by its body-colour grille slats, as well as e-2008 badging.
The e-2008 will follow shortly after the e-Partner van, Peugeot’s first electric vehicle in Australia, which is priced just $90 above the electric crossover. It features the same electric powertrain.
Peugeot Australia says it’s in the final evaluation stages of bringing the e-208 light hatch Down Under, which could arrive later this year. It’s also evaluating the mid-sized e-Partner van.
The rollout of electric vehicles follows a similarly extensive rollout of plug-in hybrids over 2022 and 2023, with PHEV versions of the 308, 3008 and 508 now on sale.

Safety
While the petrol-powered Peugeot 2008 has a five-star safety rating from ANCAP, the electric model has yet to be assessed.
A full list of safety equipment has yet to be released for the Australian market, but some feature highlights include:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Lane Positioning Assist (lane centring)
All petrol 2008 models in Australia currently offer autonomous emergency braking, a reversing camera and rear parking sensors as standard.
The presence of Lane Positioning Assist suggests the e-2008 will get the petrol GT and GT Sport’s level of safety equipment, which includes a more sophisticated autonomous emergency braking system with low-light pedestrian and cyclist detection, as well as automatic high-beam and blind-spot monitoring.
Standard Equipment
Peugeot hasn’t released a full equipment list for the e-2008 yet, though it has confirmed it will come standard with:
- Keyless entry and start
- Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- Heated front seats
- Power driver’s seat with massaging
A panoramic sunroof is optional.
Colours
The e-2008 will come standard with Orange Fusion paint.
Nera Black and Artense Grey metallic finishes are $690 extra, while Vertigo Blue, Elixir Red and Pearl White premium finishes cost $1050.
