2024 Ineos Quartermaster worth and specs: Rugged ute debuts

Look out, LandCruiser 70 Series.

Fledgling off-road specialist Ineos is rolling out a go-anywhere ute of its own with the Grenadier Quartermaster.

It’s available to order in Australia from today, priced from $110,000 before on-road costs. We’ve contacted the company to confirm when vehicles will start arriving locally.

The Grenadier Quartermaster is making its in-person debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK this week.

Based on the Grenadier wagon and sharing much of its underpinnings, the dual-cab Quartermaster is 545mm longer overall – 305mm longer in the wheelbase alone.

The load bay measures 1564mm long and 1619mm wide, ensuring it can fit a standard Euro pallet. The Grenadier’s 3500kg braked towing capacity also carries over, while payload is rated at 760kg.

There are four tie-down rings in the cargo area plus an integrated mounting bar and a 400W power takeoff.

Ineos also says the tailgate measures 1280mm wide and can support up to 225kg.

A range of accessories is available, including a waterproof canvas canopy, lockable roller tonneau, utility rails, and a roof rack that can support mounts for essential items like jerry cans and shovels.

Power comes from the same turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six petrol and diesel engines as the Grenadier, sourced from BMW. Also familiar are the ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission, Brembo brakes, and five-link front and rear suspension with solid beam axles sourced from Carraro.

A recirculating ball steering system features, and a centre differential lock and two-speed transfer case are standard with locking front and rear differentials optional.

Pricing

  • 2024 Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster: $110,000
  • 2024 Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster Trialmaster Edition: $123,000
  • 2024 Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster Fieldmaster Edition: $123,000

There’s no difference in price between petrol and diesel engines. All prices listed exclude on-road costs.

Drivetrains

The 2024 Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster is available with a choice of two BMW-sourced engines, both mated with a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission and a permanent four-wheel drive system.

The turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six petrol produces 210kW of power at 4750rpm and 450Nm of torque between 1750 and 4000rpm.

The twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six diesel produces 183kW between 3250 and 4200rpm and 550Nm between 1250 and 3000rpm.

Efficiency

Claimed fuel economy on the combined cycle is 12.6L/100km with the petrol engine and 10.5L/100km with the diesel.

Dimensions

The Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster measures 5400mm long, 2146mm wide (1943mm with the mirrors folded), and 2019mm tall on a 3227mm wheelbase.

All models have 264mm of ground clearance, an 800mm wading depth, and approach, breakover and departure angles of 36.2, 26.2 and 22.6 degrees, respectively.

Payload without the driver is rated at 907kg in the petrol and 832kg in the diesel.

Braked towing capacity is 3500kg, while unbraked towing capacity is 750kg.

Dynamic roof load is 120kg and static roof load is 375kg.

The load space measures 1619mm wide (1317mm between the arches), 485mm deep, and 1564mm long.

Servicing and Warranty

The Grenadier Quartermaster is backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

Ineos Automotive recommends a 12-month servicing interval for the Grenadier.

The company is launching with around 185 service sites. You can view their locations here.

Safety

No Ineos model has been tested by ANCAP or Euro NCAP yet.

A reversing camera is standard, but you won’t find any active safety technology like autonomous emergency braking.

Standard Equipment

Ineos hasn’t released a full list of standard equipment, but we’d be surprised if the wagon’s 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen – complete with wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, and a Pathfinder off-road navigation system – wasn’t fitted as standard, as with the wagon.

Other features standard on all wagon models include cruise control, digital radio, and tilt and telescopic steering wheel adjustment.

The Grenadier Quartermaster comes standard with the following equipment:
