After several delays, Renault’s new-generation small electric van is finally coming to Australia.
The 2024 Renault Kangoo E-Tech will arrive in Australia in February in short-wheelbase form, priced at $61,990 before on-road costs.
The long-wheelbase version will follow later in 2024, priced from $63,990 before on-road costs.
That makes it considerably more expensive than the defunct Kangoo Z.E., which retailed for $50,390 before on-road costs.
The new model, however, has considerably more power and range. The 33kWh battery is gone, with a new 45kWh lithium-ion battery sitting under the vehicle.
Range is up from 200km to 285km (WLTP), and the Kangoo E-Tech’s electric motor produces 90kW and 245Nm – up 46kW and 20Nm.
While Renault was early to this segment in Australia, bringing the old Kangoo Z.E. here in 2017, it sold under 200 vehicles during the van’s run here.
It now faces competition from not only the Peugeot e-Partner launched this year, but also the larger LDV eDeliver 7 due here early in 2024.
