June brings the start of summer, summer, summertime! But, there’s no time to just sit back and unwind — not with so many great events and things to do in Philadelphia.
Throughout the month, the city commemorates the Juneteenth holiday with parades, festivals and the kick off of the Wawa Welcome America celebration — two weeks of special events celebrating freedom to liberty in the birthplace of America leading up to the Fourth of July.
Philadelphia in June is also the setting for the ODUNDE Festival, the largest African American street festival in the country, as well as more epically fun street fests from Manayunk Arts Festival to West Park Arts Fest.
The Roots Picnic returns to The Mann Center and Fairmount Park in June. Also up on stages this month: Ed Sheeran, Shania Twain, Dead & Company, Billy Porter and more, plus three outdoor shows from The Philadelphia Orchestra.
Of course, it’s Pride Month, when Philly goes all out to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. (Stay tuned for more info on Pride events.)
And the magic continues at The Franklin Institute, where Disney100: The Exhibition is making its dazzling world premiere.
