Whether you’re getting ready for the Super Bowl, or you just wanting to enjoy a regular season Saturday (go DAWGS!) or Sunday game (Go, Pack, Go!), football is one of the country’s most popular sports. Are you a fan? Whether you love the game itself or not, football is so popular that it has become less of a sport-fan-dependent event and more of a pastime with parties, friendly get-togethers, and family time being planned around the game. At least this is true in my world 🙂
When you have a group of football fans (or just snack and hang out fans) over it’s important to have something to feed them. That’s why I’ve gathered together a few of my favorite football snacks that are a bit of a deviation from the go-to snacks you might usually see. With these football snacks, you can feed your family and friends well as you watch the game and enjoy each others’ company.
Watching football is fun, but watching football with some delicious snacks and a full belly takes it to the next level! Here are a few of my favorite easy-to-make football snacks that will help you spend less time in the kitchen and more time on the couch cheering for your team and hanging with your friends.
Cauliflower Wings
Buffalo chicken wings and football go hand in hand, but if you want a healthier option — or if there are vegetarians in the crowd — chicken may not be the best option. Thankfully, Well Plated by Erin has come up with a healthy and tasty vegetarian option with their Cauliflower Wings! These delicious buffalo cauliflower wings are light, crispy, and they even come with a buffalo sauce and blue cheese dip. The cauliflower is dipped in batter, oven-roasted to crispy perfection, then dipped in a Greek yogurt and avocado healthy version of blue cheese dip. It only takes 15 minutes to prepare these poppable snacks and your friends and family are sure to love them.
Shrimp en Brochette
Bacon warped shrimp covered in a buttery sauce — Shrimp en Brochette by The Defined Dish is a football snack that’s on a whole new level. If you have friends who are a little harder to impress, this game-day snack is sure to score big! For this recipe, the shrimp are cut down the middle, and stuffed with a cream cheese and jalapeno filling. Then they’re covered in paprika and garlic seasoning, wrapped in bacon and cooked in the air fryer, oven, or on the grill. Finished with a buttery garlic ghee sauce, these shrimp will disappear within minutes of hitting the table!
Mini Deep Dish Pizzas
Pizza is another classic game-time food but you don’t need to order delivery to get this super bowl snack to your guests. Damn Delicious has come up with a mini version of a deep-dish pizza that has only five ingredients! Using flour tortillas as a stand-in for pizza crust alongside pizza sauce, mini pepperonis, and two types of cheese, you’ve got a crowd-pleasing dish that’s simple to make and guaranteed to make game day even more fun. Kids will love these!
Sweet Pepper Poppers
Jalapeno poppers are a well-known football snack, but not everyone is a fan of spice. Inspired Taste has come up with a sweeter option that uses mini sweet peppers in place of spicy jalapenos. Don’t worry, they’re still full of flavor with their cream and goat cheese filling that’s stuffed with bacon, cooked onions, and spices. The best part is, that they only take 10 minutes to prepare before cooking in the oven for 20 minutes so you can pop them in before the game starts, and have a snack ready to go as soon as your family and friends start to get a little munchy.
Ultimate Loaded Nachos
Would any game-day snack lineup be complete without nachos? These ultimate loaded nachos from Love and Lemons have everything you could want in a platter of nachos from crispy tortilla chips to fresh tomatoes and taco-flavored beef to the creamy cheese on the top. This recipe has all the classic nacho flavor you’d want, but the ingredients are all vegan! If you want to substitute real meat and cheese for the vegan ones listed in the recipe or top off your nachos with some sour cream, you certainly can. Any way you slice it, loaded nachos are one of the most popular game-day snacks.
Spinach and Artichoke Avocado Dip
Dips are a sharable Super Bowl snack that allows guests who just want a nibble to have a few bites and then get back to the game. This spinach and artichoke avocado dip by The Defined Dish is the perfect football snack if you’re short on time because there’s no cooking needed! Full of healthy fats and nutrients from the artichoke hearts, spinach, and avocado, this green dip is perfect for serving with some vegetable sticks like carrots, celery, and bell peppers. You can also put out some slices of radish, or some cherry tomatoes for a slightly smaller bite.
Honey Buffalo Wings with Homemade Ranch
No football snack list would be complete without a buffalo wings recipe. One of my favorite buffalo chicken recipes is from Damn Delicious. They use honey to add sweetness to the classic buffalo flavor you know and love. The recipe also comes with directions on how to make a homemade ranch dressing for dipping. Covered in a sticky sauce and baked to crispy perfection in the oven, these honey buffalo wings are the perfect way to cap off a game day snacks menu.
Layered Mexican Dip
Do you have those recipes that you just expect to see at family gatherings? For us, it’s my Grandma Betty’s onion dip, Mom’s veggie dip, and this- Kris’ layered Mexican dip. This fresh and delicious layered Mexican dip is a hearty crowd pleaser that works well in all seasons. It will no doubt become a fast favorite for gatherings, like it is in my family!
What Are Good Football Snacks
The best football snacks are ones that you can easily prepare because no one wants to be cooking when they could be watching the game. You also want to choose sharable options that make it easy for people to grab a portion without touching the rest of the food. Two-bite poppable foods and foods you can eat with your hands make the best football snacks! If you’re short on time and don’t feel like cooking, some healthy pantry snacks like nuts and pretzels are always a good option too.
