Toyota Corolla as much as 11.6% share in one other declining month (-9%) – Greatest Promoting Automobiles Weblog


The Toyota Corolla hits 11.6% of the Finnish market in January.

The Finnish new car market continues to fall in January at -9% year-on-year to just 7,084 units. Toyota (-8.4%) fares slightly better than the market and edge past the record share it established a year ago at 22.1%. Volvo (-12.5%) is #1 but skids while Volkswagen (+15.6%), Skoda (+7.1%) and Mercedes (+30.6%) defy the negative market with solid year-on-year gains. Ford (-59.3%), Kia (-20.6%) is in trouble, BMW (-8.6%) roughly matches the market, Nissan (-3.4%) limits its fall whereas Audi (+31.3%) scores the biggest gain in the Top 10. Below, Polestar (+353.8%), Suzuki (+146.5%), Tesla (+2350%) off a very low base, Honda (+57.1%) and Maxus (+120%) stand out.

Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla (+46.9%) surges ahead to a stellar 11.6% share, potentially the highest for the namepate in 30 years: since 1993. Way below is the Toyota Yaris (+4.8%) at 4% share while the Volvo XC40 (+53.3%) is up three spots on December to land on the third step of the podium. The Skoda Enyaq (+177.9%) is up 10 ranks to a record #4 just as the VW ID.4 (+152.2%) Is up 8 to an all-time high #5, also hit in July 2021. The Toyota RAV4 (-51.8%) is in complete freefall at #6 ahead of the Volvo V60 (+13.5%) and Mercedes C-Class (+442.3%) both extremely solid. The Polestar 2 (+353.8%), Nissan Leaf (+91.4%), BMW i4 (+1900%), Kia Sportage (+305.3%), Audi A4 (+153.6%) and BMW 2 Series (+1550%) also impress.
