The MG 4 may have only recently launched but it’ll soon receive what’s said to be a substantial update to its interior.
Autocar spoke with the general manager of MG’s business unit, Lu Jiajun. He confirmed in the second half of next year the brand will focus on its electric vehicle range, after overhauling its combustion-powered models in the first half of 2024.
He didn’t confirm just what changes will be made, other than to say the MG 4 will receive a “big update” to its interior during the second half of 2024.
The MG 4 was revealed in China in June 2022 under the Mulan name plate.
It’s the brand’s first vehicle on its dedicated electric vehicle Modular Scalable Platform.
It’s unclear what changes will come to the MG 4 or when the updated model will come to Australia. We have reached out to MG Australia for comment.
Currently the MG 4’s interior features a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
It features iSmart lite connectivity with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
Locally, in November 2023 the MG 4 outsold the Tesla Model 3.
It’s the best-selling car within its VFACTS segment. From January to November 2023, MG has sold 2537 examples, ahead of the rival GWM Ora (429), Cupra Born (825) and Nissan Leaf (472).
MG Australia boss Peter Ciao told local media earlier this year the brand plans to sell 2000 MG 4s per month.
