Let’s make Jolly Rancher shots—inspired by a favorite candy. Here at A Beautiful Mess we have long been a fan of novelty recipes that include candies. We even made Jolly Rancher vodka almost 10 years ago. This recipe tastes just like a Jolly Rancher candy.
Everyone has a favorite flavor of Jolly Rancher hard candy (tell us yours in the comments! Mine is green apple). With this recipe, you can make a rainbow of shots to match every Jolly Rancher or you can choose just one flavor to cut down on your ingredients list.

Ingredients in Jolly Rancher Shot
- Vodka – Choose a high quality, unflavored vodka.
- Flavored Schnapps – I used Watermelon, Grape and Sour Apple to emulate the flavors in Jolly Rancher candy. You can use one flavor, or many!
For shot glasses, I chose this classic shot glass set.
How to Make
In a cocktail shaker, combine vodka with flavored schnapps and ice.
Shake for 10-15 seconds.
Pour into shot glass.
Enjoy immediately. Use a matching flavored Jolly Rancher candy as a chaser if you wish. If you can find them, the Jolly Rancher gummies are perfect as well.
Tips for Making
- If you want to cut down on your ingredient list, choose just one flavor of schnapps and you will only need two ingredients to create this recipe. Of course, you can also find a schnapps to match all your favorite Jolly Rancher flavors and make several different flavors like we did.
- If you prefer a lighter and sweeter shot, add a splash of lemon-lime soda to the top of each shot.
- For the cutest presentation, serve these shots paired with the candies.
- If you don’t have a cocktail shaker on hand, try a mason jar (or any bottle with a lid). It works great!
- If you have flavored vodka on hand (raspberry vodka, green apple vodka or other fruity flavors), you can swap out the unflavored vodka for even more fruit flavor.
- If you prefer a little fizz, add a splash of soda water or lemon-lime soda to top off your shot.
- If you don’t have vodka on hand, feel free to swap for other clear liquor like tequila blanco or white rum.
