Tesla Mannequin Y soars to steer in market up 18.5% – Finest Promoting Vehicles Weblog

New car sales in the Netherlands leap up 18.5% year-on-year in 2023 to 369,791. We are still well below the 446,114 units sold in pre-pandemic 2019. Volkswagen (+34.5%) sports a sturdy gain to reclaim the top spot in the brands ranking it last held in 2021. Kia (+11.5%) is knocked down to #2 while Toyota (+0.8%) only edges up and stays at #3. BMW (+19.8%), Skoda (+37.1%) and Renault (+23.1%) all beat the market below whereas Peugeot (-8.7%) struggles and goes from #4 in 2022 to #7 now. Tesla (+299.3%) skyrockets 14 spots on last year to #8 and even ranked as the #1 brand in March. Volvo (+26.8%) closes the Top 10 in solid fashion. Further down, Mazda is up 49.3%, Suzuki up 46.2% and MG up 302.5% to #22, even cracking the Top 10 in December at #10.

Model-wise, the Tesla Model Y (+253.5%) goes from #20 in 2022 directly to a faraway leader this year with 3.7% share. The Model Y topped the monthly charts 6 times in 2023. It is the second Tesla model to grace the top of the Dutch ranking alongside the Model 3 which led the way in 2019. The Kia Picanto (+42.5%) also surges ahead but stays in 2nd place with 2.8% share. Leader in 2022, the Peugeot 208 (-6.6%) endure the only year-on-year loss in the Top 6 and falls to #3. The Volvo XC40 (+22%) remains in 4th place ahead of the Kia Niro (+1.9%) and VW Polo (+31.7%). The Lynk & Co 01 (+4.5%) recedes one rank to #8 and ranked #1 in February while the Toyota Aygo X (+18.6%) breaks into the Top 10 at #10. The Tesla Model 3 (+513.8%) rallies back up 99 spots to #11.
