239,150 new cars found a buyer in Austria this year, a solid 11.2% year-on-year improvement. Volkswagen (+5.2%) sees its share drop from 14.9% to 14.1%. In contrast Skoda (+26.5%) improves from 8.7% to 9.9%. Meanwhile BMW (+9.8%) shows stable share at 7.5% while Audi (+24.8%) excels but stays at #4 in a Top 4 unchanged on 2022. Hyundai (+12.3%) overtakes Mercedes (+5.6%) to take the 5th spot while both Seat (+15.3%) and Toyota (+7.6%) advance one spot to #7 and #8 respectively. Note Hyundai was the #1 brand for the first time in December. Dacia (+24.7%) soars three ranks to #9 and now outsells sister brand Renault (+12.3%) at #11. MG (+96.7%), Tesla (+55.6%), Cupra (+36.3%), Suzuki (+30.5%) and Nissan (+30.4%) impress below.
Over in the models lane, the Skoda Octavia (+52.6%) tightens its grip on the charts, repeats at #1 and scores its 4th ever win (add 2019 and 2020). The Tesla Model Y (+38.6%) climbs up one spot to #2, followed by a VW Golf (+29.8%) in unusually great shape. Note the Model Y was #1 in February and March. The Toyota Yaris/Cross (-1.6%) drops to #4 just as the BMW X1 (+123.5%) surges up from outside the 2022 Top 20 directly into 5th place. Other great performers include the Skoda Enyaq (+87.2%), #1 in October, the Seat Ateca (+53.1%), VW Caddy (+35.1%) and Skoda Karoq (+34%).
