The BMW 4 Sequence’ polarising nostril is getting some modifications

The BMW 4 Series range is getting some cosmetic tweaks as part of a mid-life update, with production of the updated range reportedly commencing in March.

As reported by BMW Blog, the German carmaker is currently undergoing testing ahead of its imminent reveal. Instagram user kbedrosian captured a camouflaged 4 Series two-door coupe prototype in Los Angeles, California.

We’ve also seen a number of other spied prototypes over the last nine months.

While the grille appears to be the same size, there may be changes to the inserts, with BMW Blog noting M Performance models will get a unique mesh treatment.

There also appear to be refreshed bumpers front and rear.

Minor changes to the headlights and tail lights are likely, with BMW Blog reporting they will be reminiscent of the units on the new 5 Series and i5.

New alloy wheel and exterior colour options are also expected.

Photos of the updated 4 Series’ interior haven’t been captured at this stage, however BMW already rolled out its BMW Curved Display as a running update.

It’s unclear if there will be any changes to the powertrains.

The current-generation BMW 4 Series range was first revealed in 2020 and is available in two-door coupe and convertible body styles, as well as in five-door liftback form as the 4 Series Gran Coupe.

Last year BMW sold a total of 858 examples of the 4 Series coupe and convertible in Australia, down 14.3 per cent year-on-year from 2022. It also sold 805 examples of the 4 Series Gran Coupe, down 6.2 per cent.
