Major Weapon Techniques (PWS) Debuts NEW Modular Rifle within the UXR

Primary Weapon Systems today announced a modular rifle platform, dubbed the UXR, at SHOT Show 2024, featuring versatility in caliber swaps and barrel lengths. This development comes as a significant addition to PWS’s lineup of innovative firearms designed for a variety of users. The UXR allows shooters to switch between multiple calibers, including .223 Rem, 300 BLK, and .308 Win, with anticipation for additional caliber exchange options soon. The rifle carries a price tag of $2,650 for all base models.

I attended SHOT Show and had the opportunity to get hands-on experience with the UXR. The rifle’s adaptability was evident in the ease with which barrel changes could be implemented. The modular design is beneficial for users looking to customize their weapon for different shooting scenarios.

Primary Weapon Systems is known for its commitment to reliability and the UXR maintains that standard. The rifle is built with a modified long-stroke piston system, an evolution of the legacy design known for reducing fouling and improving operational reliability.

Product specs:

  • Barrel Xchange System
  • Modified Long Stroke Piston System
  • Bore Evacuator
  • Precision-Engineered Ambidextrous Receiver
  • Ambidextrous buttstock
  • Adjustable Gas System
  • PWS FRC Compensator
  • MLOK Handguard
  • 41V50 1/10 Twist Barrel

I found the rifle’s compensator particularly effective at recoil management, which actively contributed to its stability during firing sessions. Moreover, the ambidextrous receiver and buttstock of the UXR provided comfort and flexibility regardless of shooting preferences. The rifle accommodates both left and right-handed users with equal precision, which is an impressive design achievement.

In discussing the UXR stock, Primary Weapon Systems elaborated on its ambidextrous folding feature. The buttstock is developed to offer essential ergonomic adjustments such as cheek riser and length of pull customization, affording compatibility with a range of scopes and optics. The implementation of a 1913 picatinny rail attached to the trigger housing further cements the rifle’s designation as a modular platform.

The longevity of rifles often comes down to their build quality, and the UXR appears robust, featuring 7075-T651 aluminum in the crafting of its ambidextrous receiver—enhanced with a hard anodized type III Class 2 Mil-Spec 8625 coding.

Historically, Primary Weapon Systems has established a reputation for integrating modularity into their firearm designs, and the UXR continues in this vein. Previous models have made use of innovative designs, enabling interoperability of parts and ease of maintenance. With the inclusion of industry-standard components, such as MLOK handguards and precision-engineered parts, the UXR ensures continuity with this tradition while advancing the technology.

Other rifles in PWS’s repertoire, such as those in the MK1 and MK2 series, have set precedents for quality and user-focused design. It is apparent that the UXR builds upon the foundation set by these predecessors, aiming to offer a higher degree of customization and versatility suitable for diverse applications which include hunting, sports shooting, and tactical operations.

As the story of the UXR unfolds, it exemplifies Primary Weapon Systems’ dedication to innovation and user adaptability in the evolving firearms market.
