10 Greatest Methods To Use Coconut Oil For Glowy Pores and skin

Coconut oil is for more than the kitchen. You can go ahead and evict your coconut oil from the pantry and let it live right next to all your skincare products.

There are a ton of benefits of coconut oil for your skin (and other parts of your body), making it a must-have beauty product for every woman out there.

If you’re going to use coconut oil on your skin, you don’t want refined coconut oil or cold pressed coconut oil like you use for cooking. (So, maybe our analogy in the opening is a little bit of an exaggeration.)

Instead, be sure to grab unrefined organic coconut oil when it comes to your skin.

Unrefined organic coconut oil is less processed and has more phytonutrients, which help protect your skin from nasty stuff in the environment.

You can use unrefined coconut oil in SO MANY ways. But today, we’re sharing a round-up of our fave ways to use coconut oil on our skin specifically.

Here’s what you can do:

10 Best Ways To Use Coconut Oil For Skin

♡ Soothe razor burn and other rashes.

Applying coconut oil to razor burn and other rashes can give you a lot of relief and help heal your irritation faster

It’s antimicrobial, super moisturizing, and even reduces inflammation—all of which are good for skin irritation.

However . . . if you want to avoid razor burn altogether, apply coconut oil to your skin before you shave with The Skinny Confidential shave cream and razor.

♡ Restore your moisture barrier.

Coconut oil is also amazing for skin hydration for all skin types.

If you’re feeling like every product you apply to your face burns (even moisturizer) it might be because your moisture barrier is shot. To restore it, use coconut oil instead.

It’ll be soothing and effective even on really sensitive skin. Just put some on after cleansing. It’s a game-changer.

This goes for the face, as well as other extra dry areas like the elbows, cuticles, feet, and so on.

♡ Fight acne.

Coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acids/lauric acid, which means it’s antimicrobial. This is great for people with acne, because the bacteria killing function can help reduce breakouts.

Plus, better moisturizing is good for acne too.

However, coconut oil is pretty thick and it can clog pores. So, we don’t recommend using it as an everyday treatment for acne. Just do it every once in a while to keep you clean, clear, and hydrated.

Unique Productivity Tips

♡ Cleanse your face.

Again, coconut oil is super good for killing bacteria. Except, if you’re going to use it as your regular cleanse in your skincare routine,  you should apply it and remove it.

Wet your face, and then gently rub the coconut oil into your skin. Then, rinse it off before continuing with your toners, serums, and moisturizers. That way, it doesn’t clog your pores. We recommend Clean Skin Club towels and if you need more of a tutorial on double cleansing, read this post.

♡ Make scrubs and masks.

This is one of our favorite things to do with coconut oil. You can actually make your own at home DIY scrubs and masks that feel super luxurious and have a lot of benefits too.

Some of our favorite crafty beauty tools that use coconut oil as a base include this Coffee Ground Body Scrub, the Brown Sugar Exfoliating Face Mask, and this Coconut Oil Lip Scrub

These are so fun to make and we love knowing exactly what’s going into our beauty products. Since coconut oil is so versatile, it can be the base of so many products from scrubs and masks to lip balms and body butter.

So, get crafty y’all.

♡ Highlight your cheekbones.

A small amount of coconut oil applied to your cheekbones is the best highlighter for anyone looking for the dewy glow. And aren’t we all?

So, if you’re out of highlighter or want to try something a little adventurous, use coconut oil instead. We think you’ll like what you see.

♡ Remove your makeup.

Natural oils are actually great makeup removers. Both olive oil and coconut oil are great for scrubbing away makeup and SPF at the end of the day. (Finally a makeup remover that won’t burn your eyes.)

Not only will your face be left free of products and cosmetics after you wipe it away with coconut oil, but you’ll have moisturized and cleansed your skin too.

♡ Contour your body.

Okay, the coconut oil itself doesn’t contour your body, but it’s the perfect oil to use when sculpting your figure with the Le Spoon

You need to create a frictionless surface for your tool, so massaging, sculpting, and optimizing your body for detox is a breeze.

Just rub the coconut oil on the parts of your body you’ll be sculpting, and then go about your contouring session. You’ll feel and look amazing.

♡ Hydrate under your eyes.

Coconut oil is actually a great eye cream. Sometimes in the cold months or if you haven’t been drinking enough water, your under eyes can get dry and discolored. This can age you and even accentuate wrinkles. No thanks.

To re-hydrate your eyes and even out your skin tone, just dab a little bit of coconut oil under your eyes before bed. It’s the best hack.

♡ Make sex even better.

Lube always makes sex better, but coconut oil lube takes sex to the next level (whether solo or with your partner). It’ll feel amazing for both of you, while also providing several skincare benefits.

First of all, it’s 100% natural and chemical free, which is a plus when it’s getting all up in your business.. The skin down there is SO sensitive.

It also doesn’t mess with your pH levels and helps prevent UTIs. You can just use regular coconut oil or try our favorite coconut oil lube from Woo. Grab some Freshies while you’re at it too.

Just remember coconut oil is a solid at room temperature, so it needs to be above 69 degrees (get it) to be melted and play ready.

Coconut oil is seriously so useful for so many things. You can use it in the kitchen as well as on your teeth, skin, and hair. We love versatility.

So, if you’ve been looking for a new beauty product to help with hydration, cleansing, or skin irritation, maybe look in your pantry before ordering something new and probably expensive. Coconut oil might be all you need.
