El Al to Increase U.S. Service

El Al this spring will begin to expand service between the United States and Israel in response to increased demand, the carrier announced Wednesday.

In April, El Al will add two weekly flights from Fort Lauderdale, bringing the weekly South Florida schedule to seven, including Miami’s flights. In June, the carrier will add two weekly flights from Los Angeles on each Monday and Wednesday, bringing the total on that route to eight, according to El Al.

In addition, the carrier will add a new weekly flight between Boston and Tel Aviv, which will operate four times weekly each Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday for the summer schedule. El Al said it also plans to continue to add flights from New York and Newark for the summer season.

Several carriers reduced or suspended service to Tel Aviv after the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks on Israel by Hamas, and the carrier said it was trying to replenish some of that capacity.

“Since Oct. 7, El Al has strategically adjusted its U.S. flight schedule to uphold an air bridge which is vital for the State of Israel,” El Al VP of commercial and aviation relations Shlomi Zafarani said in a statement. “As we enter the summer season, our commitment to U.S. expansion remains resolute.”
