Hawaiian Airways Stockholders OK Alaska Deal

Hawaiian Airlines’ stockholders have voted to approve the proposed merger with Alaska Air Group, Hawaiian announced Friday. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.

Hawaiian and Alaska continue to expect to complete the transaction within 12 to 18 months from their Dec. 3 merger agreement. The deal requires the approval of federal regulators, who successfully sued to block JetBlue’s merger with Spirit Airlines, a move that the carriers are appealing. Alaska CEO Ben Minicucci last month said the carrier had begun to engage with the U.S. Department of Justice regarding the deal.
