Simple Peanut Butter Chocolate Rolls with Nutty Frosting and Filling

Those fans of peanut butter and chocolate are in for a real treat with my recipe for peanut butter chocolate rolls. Imagine huge fluffy sweet rolls loaded with chocolate chips together with a sweetened peanut butter filling crowned with creamy chocolate peanut butter frosting oozing into the tender crevices of cut sweet dough swirls. Therefore, let me show you how to make these peanut butter sweet rolls with chocolate along with helpful tips because they are extra special indulgences that can really satisfy your sweet tooth.

Tips for Bakery Style Nutty Chocolate Sweet Rolls

After rolling the dough out into two oblong strips, I like to use my teflon brush dipped in water to brush the inside before adding the filling ingredients. This reduces calories and helps the ingredients adhere in the same way as melted butter or oil. However, when making this recipe it is important only to slightly moisten the inside with the water so keep that in mind.

I often bake with dry powdered milk solids, but many people do not have that product in their homes. If you do, you can alter the recipe in this way for perfect sweet rolls. Use one half cups of the warm water along with one teaspoon of sugar for the yeast. At the same time, eliminate the milk and substitute one and a three-fourth cup of warm water with one third cup of dry milk solids results in excellent rolls.

Always make it a point to proof the yeast. Sometimes, a common mistake is using water that is too hot or yeast that lost its potency due to shipping, bad storage or just age. A few extra minute that you wait to see the yeast feeding on the sugar that is apparent from bubbles foaming in the water in your mixing bowl is well worth your time.

Seriously, give my peanut butter chocolate rolls a try and you will be so glad that you did. Please share my recipe with your family and friends and do come back to my blog for more.

How to Make Easy Peanut Butter Chocolate Sweet Rolls

7 to 7-1/4 cups of flour
1 cup of warm milk
1-1/4 cups of warm water + 1 teaspoon of sugar
½ cups of sugar
3 large eggs
½ cups of canola oil
1 tablespoon of vanilla
3 ½ teaspoons of dry yeast (1 package + ½ package)

Peanut Butter Chocolate Filling:

3/4 cup of creamy peanut butter
3/4 cup of sugar
1 cup of chocolate chips

Peanut Butter Chocolate Frosting:

1 cup of confectioners’ sugar
1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa
2 teaspoons of vanilla
1/8 cup of milk
1 tablespoon of creamy peanut butter

To Prepare the Peanut Butter Chocolate Rolls Dough:

  1. Proof the yeast first in the warm (not hot) water with the one teaspoon of sugar. It is ready to use when you start seeing foam in your mixing bowl or measuring cup.
  2. Add the yeast to a large mixing bowl and combine it with the warmed milk and 3 cups of sifted flour, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and oil.
  3. Mix these ingredients and then continue gradually adding more flour until forming soft, pliable dough.
  4. Gently grease the ball of dough and cover it. Set it in a warm spot and allow to grow for about an hour and a half until it has a chance to rise.
  5. Roll the dough into an oblong about 15 x 7 inches. You will get two rolls.
  6. Brush lightly with water then spread peanut butter inside before sprinkling half of the reserved sugar and chocolate chips for the filling to finish.
  7. Once filled, roll each up starting from the smallest end like a jelly roll.
  8. Now cut into slices (about an inch each). You can cut them as thick for huge man pleasing rolls or smaller rolls depending on your own preference.
  9. Place the rolls in a lightly greased baking pan about 13 x 9 x 2″.
  10. Cover and let these rise until double, about 45 minutes to an hour.
  11. Bake in a 350-degree oven for about 18-20 minutes, depending on how your oven is regulated.
Use a toothpick, a slender knife or a cake tester to see if anything sticks determining doneness.
  12. Allow to cool for a few minutes before removing them from the pan.
  13. To Make the Frosting:
  14. Just mix all the ingredients and beat with your electric mixer until creamy and spreadable.
  15. Spread on the rolls after they cool.
  16. ENJOY!
