12 Should-Do Actions for Vacationers in Riyadh

Activities for Tourists in Riyadh: Discover the Hidden Gems

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and especially Riyadh, is a dynamic place! Every day, new things are constructed, and cultures shift! The most crucial thing, though, is to have an open mind and be prepared to be pleasantly surprised by how at ease you’re feeling in Riyadh and the range of activities available It might not be what you’ve been taught or what you believe!

Make your reservation with Flynas Air, a private airline based in Saudi Arabia with its main office in Riyadh. Flynas will operate flights to four airports in the Emirates from four cities in Saudi Arabia, making it the largest airline between these two countries’ destinations.

These are Riyadh’s main tourist attractions. These are great things to do in your first few days in Riyadh to set yourself up as you get to know the city and its traditions.

Kingdom Tower Skybridge

The Kingdom Tower Skybridge

This is your best bet when it comes to things to do in Riyadh! To get to the Skybridge and the best view of Riyadh, you have to climb the Kingdom Tower! The Kingdom Tower, the most famous building in Riyadh, is shaped like a bottle opener, which is hilarious considering Saudi Arabia is a dry country.

It is, in my opinion, among the top things to do in Riyadh because of its expansive retail complex and the amazing 360-degree panorama that can be viewed from the Skybridge.

National Museum of Saudi Arabia

The National Museum of Saudi Arabia

This may be the most inexpensive place to visit in Riyadh, costing only 10 SAR (less than the price of a cappuccino). The National Museum of Saudi Arabia is the best, hands down because it has a wealth of historical information.

Due to its size, which takes around an hour to explore on foot, this two-story building is a great choice when considering things to do in Riyadh.

Masmak Fort

Masmak Fort

Masmak Fort is open for visitors and provides more historical facts about Riyadh and Saudi Arabia. It is one of the greatest things to do in Riyadh.

Deera Square

Deera Square

Masmak Fort is across the street from Deera Square. Being the site for all public executions in the city, this location—also called “chop square” by tourists—should be on your list of things to visit in Riyadh.

There are lots of independent stores lining the streets that encircle Masmak Fort and Deera Square, where you may walk around. It is preferable to come here during daylight hours, as it can be a little unnerving to be here by yourself at sunset.

Old Diriyah
Old Diriyah

Old Diriyah

Diriyah, in the west of the city and a historic district, is one of the top places to visit and things to do in Riyadh.

Diriyah’s tiny lanes and mud-brick structures are well-known for providing a window into the city’s fascinating past. To experience the culture and architecture of Old Diriyah, you can rent a bike or go on foot tours around the neighbourhood.

Najd Village

Enjoy authentic local food and a classic interior at Najd Village, the best restaurant in Riyadh for tourists to experience Saudi Arabian heritage without having to leave the city. Najd Village is an essential destination for individuals seeking to fully immerse themselves in the local way of life, owing to its traditional cuisine and welcoming atmosphere. With its distinctive setting and excellent food, Najd Village provides a remarkable dining moment in Riyadh.

The Edge of the World and the Second Edge of the World

The easiest and best day excursion from Riyadh is this one, hands down. When using Google Maps as a foreign visitor to Riyadh, you can drive straight to the Edge of the World, but you should drive carefully because there is no road after you leave the main road, just the desert.

Red Sand Dunes

Red Sand Dunes

A visit to the red dunes and desert outside of Riyadh is another simple day trip, but you’ll need to sign up for a tour to do it.

The buses travel to the desert from South Riyadh! We walked across the dunes for two hours before dusk and then returned to the camp for a BBQ dinner, music, and conversation with other tour participants.

The Zone

There are several eateries and coffee shops in this area, so you’re sure to find anything you enjoy. It’s best to visit in the evenings and on weekends to see what Saudis do during their free time, as these times tend to be busier.

The Boulevard Riyadh

This neighbourhood, which should not be confused with The Boulevard, which is open during the Riyadh Season, has some excellent eateries and cafes as well as a second location where one can spend the entire day and night observing local life.

Riyadh Park Mall

There are many shopping centres in Riyadh, and as most of them have rides and activities, they’re excellent options for families and kids to explore the city.

If you just visit one shopping mall in Riyadh, it should be Riyadh Park Mall because it is the most stunning.

Diplomatic Quarter

Diplomatic Quarter

The Diplomatic Quarter also referred to as the DQ, was formerly the sole property of expatriates, making it one of the most popular destinations and activities for them in Riyadh.

Saudis are now allowed to reside in the DQ, which houses all of the embassies. Its best benefit is that you can walk around the DQ in Riyadh without fear of being struck by a car! The DQ is renowned for its contemporary architecture and verdant surroundings, offering a tranquil haven away from the busy metropolis. It’s a wonderful location for a picnic or stroll with loved ones.

The streets of the Diplomatic Quarter make for excellent strolling because Riyadh is not a pedestrian-friendly city. If you’re in the mood for some exercise or just want to go for a stroll, the paths for strolling in the Diplomatic Quarter are also fantastic.
