A few months back Under Armour reached out to me and asked if I wanted to take a look at a brand-new pair of boots they had just launched. That pair just so happened to be their new Army and Airforce approved Charged Loadout Boot. The timing couldn’t have been any better honestly as I had just gotten back from U.S. Army’s Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape (SERE) school and my current pair of boots were starting to show their age. Typically I like to spend more time with my boots before I do a proper review so look at this piece as more of an overview with a glance at durability and I hope to have another more in-depth, long-term update in the future.

Design and Construction – Under Armour Charged Loadout Boots
The first impression of the Charged Loadout Boots is undeniably striking. The sleek design, coupled with rugged elements, hints at their versatile nature. Crafted with premium materials from the soles to the footbed, these boots boast a combination of leather and textile upper, providing flexibility. The reinforced toe cap and heel add an extra layer of protection and should allow for longevity even in challenging terrains.
Comfort and Fit – Under Armour Charged Loadout Boots
Slipping into the Charged Loadout Boots the first thing I noticed was how lightweight these boots are. Coming in at only 27 oz for the pair, UA claims that these are currently the lightest AR67-1-compliant boots on the market. These are certainly the lightest Army boots I have used up to this point in my military career. The minimal cushioning around the ankle collar and tongue cradle your feet, offering comfort. Under Armour’s innovative Charged Cushioning® midsole technology provides responsive cushioning, absorbing impact and providing energy return with every step. Fit-wise, the Charged Loadout Boots were actually way to big for me with my first pair. I requested a 9.5 and those ended up being way to big but thankfully it was easy for me to go into my local U.S. Patriot Tactical store and exchange them for a size 9. I’d recommend trying these boots on before ordering them if you do plan on buying them.
Performance – Under Armour Charged Loadout Boots
Where these boots truly shine is in their performance. Designed for all-terrain use, they excel in various outdoor activities, from rucking to daily military use. I even played a game of pickleball in these boots to see how they performed on the courts. The lugged rubber outsole delivers exceptional traction on both wet and dry surfaces, providing stability and confidence with every stride. Furthermore, the boots’ lightweight design minimizes fatigue during long treks, allowing you to maintain momentum without feeling weighed down. The combination of durability, traction, and weather resistance makes them a good choice for adventures even when your not in uniform.
