CWT Extends Attain of Airfare Optimization Service


CWT has added “enhanced AI and machine learning models” to its airfare optimization service and is expanding the availability of the service, the travel management company announced.

CWT began offering pre-ticketing airfare optimization services, built on the platform of AI and advanced analytics provider Wenrix, since 2020, and it later expanded to included post-ticket optimization. With the upgraded platform, CWT was able to extend the window for airfare optimization, which it said has enabled it to secure even lower airfares. Select CWT customers have been piloting the new version since last year, and some of them have had savings double of what they were in the previous version, according to CWT.

The new version of the service currently is available in 12 countries and will be expanded to more markets in the coming months, CWT said.

CWT is in the process of being acquired by competitor American Express Global Business Travel, with the companies projecting a closing date of later this year pending regulatory approvals. Both companies have said the two TMCs will continue acting as competitors until that acquisition is complete.
