Ground transportation platform GroundSpan has partnered with virtual card provider Conferma to enable corporate customers to pay for ground transportation with virtual cards in what the companies call a “first-of its-kind integration.”
The integration connects GroundSpan to Conferma’s virtual card platform through an API, which means travelers can book and pay with the virtual card and companies can combine the expenses along with hotel spend into a single monthly bill to the issuer, according to the companies. The partnership expands Conferma’s reach beyond its core hotel and air payments business.
“Our customers have increasingly been asking for a ground transportation virtual card capability, so we’re delighted to have delivered this functionality through the market leading solution, GroundSpan, building on the existing benefits of virtual cards for hotel payments,” Conferma head of sales for corporate payment solutions Kelly Cleeton said in a statement.
Conferma and GroundSpan conducted a three-month pilot prior to the formal partnership, in which time it processed 5,000 bookings through the GroundSpan platform, according to the companies.
GroundSpan reports connections to more than 5,000 ground transportation vendors. Conferma’s platform includes access to all major card networks, more than 80 issuers and more than 150 connected booking platforms.
