AllOutdoor Evaluate – Uncharted Provide Co. Zeus Air Soar Starter

The Utah-based Uncharted Supply Co., founded in 2016, has been about providing high-quality emergency gear to help people get through any emergency big or small. Earlier this year they introduced a new piece of emergency vehicle kit, the new Zeus Air Starter/Air Compressor. A new compact and lightweight piece of vehicle kit that is a jump starter, tire inflator, flashlight, and power bank. Soon after I received a unit for review and started keeping it in my truck at all times along with a patch kit just in case something does go wrong while I’m on the road. I’ve driven thousands of miles with it, from just the daily driving to long road trips down to Florida and back. Since then I’ve used it for a few vehicle emergencies and just leisure purposes. So let’s see how the Zeus Air has done in the past months and get into the review of it.

Jumping a Stranded Driver – Uncharted Supply Co. Zeus Air Jump Starter and Inflator

I actually got to use the jumping function out in the real world a lot quicker than I had expected. While running errands one day I noticed a car being pushed through an intersection. So I went over parked the truck and helped the guy push the car all the way into a parking spot. He was just a good samaritan helping a lady out whose car had died at the light. She told us that she was having battery/alternator issues but needed to get it to work. She told me that as long as she kept the car moving she was fine and that she had her own jumper but that it was dead. So I brought over the Zeus Air and hooked it up to the terminals, and saw her battery was only putting out 10.5V according to the display on the Zeus. So I left it on to let it start charging and after a few minutes, it was hovering around 12.5V so I disconnected the pack and told her to try starting the car, which thankfully started right up. She said thank you and stayed a little longer just giving the engine a little gas to help charge the battery some more. I left to go finish up my errands and didn’t see her car there when I passed by again, so hopefully she made it to work alright.

Filling Trailer Tires & Inflating Floats – Uncharted Supply Co. Zeus Air Jump Starter and Inflator

The other big function of the Zeus Air is the inflator, perfect for both filling up flat tires and inflatable. I used it for both this summer, the bigger one was to make sure my project boat trailer tires were aired up right to move the thing across the state. I had left it in storage for a minute now so both of them were pretty low compared to the recommended 50psi they should have been at. The Zeus Air made quick work of it, filling both up quickly and easily. Probably took less than 5 minutes a tire to pump up at least 20psi, a lot faster than some other units I’ve used in the past. All the while, it is still in a more compact package. Like the user manual did say though do be careful with the air hose, the fittings do get hot.

Another time I used the Zeus Air to fill up a jumbo inflatable turtle float at the pool for my wife. The Zeus Air comes with an assortment of air hose tips to inflate a variety of things, but with the size of the float I just had to stick the whole hose into the float’s airspout.  While it made short work of filling up trailer tires, the Zeus Air surprisingly struggled a bit with this. To completely fill up the turtle it took about 15 minutes and ate a decent chunk of the battery to do it. So I probably won’t use this again for jumbo floats or floats with wide air spouts like this, and probably just stick to smaller inflatables.

Final Thoughts – Uncharted Supply Co. Zeus Air Jump Starter and Inflator

After months of using the Zeus Air, I feel like it is a great compact option for anyone who wants to keep their vehicle ready for that flat tire or bad battery. The use of high-quality li-po batteries really saves a ton of weight and keeps this smaller than any other starter/inflator combo unit letting it easily tuck into an under-seat compartment in my truck. For tires at least the air pump works incredibly well, making short work of airing up tires. While I did like many things about the Zeus Air I do need to point out a couple of things I don’t like about it. It struggled with inflating larger floats, using about 1/3 of a charge to fill up this one float. Taking 15 minutes to do just an ok job of filling it. The carrying case is great, but if packed not just right the cables can press on the buttons on the Zeus Air. This will eat up your battery if you aren’t careful, half the charge was gone by the time I noticed this issue. If the buttons were recessed into the body this issue could be avoided. Another thing is the price point, at $219.99 it is a bit steeper than other options available. But to be fair you often pay more for anything to be more compact and convenient. Even with these few things I don’t like about the Zeus Air, I still recommend anyone who is looking for a lighter and smaller jump starter and tire inflator vehicle to take a look at the Zeus Air.
