Celebrating four decades of bringing convenience to every Filipino neighborhood
Manila, Philippines —
The Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC), which holds the exclusive license for 7-Eleven in the Philippines, has achieved a significant milestone by inaugurating its 4000th store in Newport District, Pasay City. This event commemorates over forty years of being an integral part of Filipino communities. Starting from its modest origins, PSC has evolved into a cherished national symbol, consistently providing convenience and satisfaction to its patrons on a daily basis.
On February 29, 1984, PSC launched its inaugural 7-Eleven store at the bustling intersection of EDSA and Kamias Road in Metro Manila. The store’s eye-catching orange, green, and red exterior immediately captured the attention of passersby amid the urban commotion. What initially started as a humble retail location swiftly evolved into an integral part of daily routines, with the expression “Tara, 7-Eleven tayo!” gaining widespread popularity as an invitation for a spontaneous visit to pick up a snack or beverage.
In 2024, 40 years have passed since its inception, and PSC has experienced remarkable growth, now operating 4000 stores across the Philippines. The company continues to uphold the founding principles articulated by Mr. Vicente T. Paterno, ensuring that it remains the reliable and trustworthy neighbor for Filipinos, as envisioned by its late founder.
Mr. Jose Victor Paterno, President and CEO of PSC, is carrying on the enduring legacy of his late father’s leadership. Commemorating 40 years in the Philippines and the inauguration of the 4000th store marks a momentous milestone for the company. This achievement reinforces their unwavering dedication to providing convenience and exceptional service. Mr. Paterno expresses his enthusiasm for continuing to serve their communities and eagerly anticipates the future. The family’s unwavering commitment has been instrumental in propelling the brand’s growth and success throughout the decades.
Co-founder and current Chairman of the Board, Mr. Jose T. Pardo, expressed his sincere admiration for the achievement of reaching 4000 stores. He emphasized that this remarkable milestone is a testament to the unwavering trust and allegiance that the company has garnered from its customers throughout the years. In addition, Mr. Pardo acknowledged the relentless efforts and commitment of the entire team, attributing the accomplishment to their hard work. He further conveyed the company’s pride in maintaining an indispensable role in the daily lives of the Filipino people.
PSC is celebrating its milestone achievement with the launch of a year-long campaign called “Forty-gether kasama ang paborito mong kapitbahay.” This campaign honors the brand’s evolution from a single store to a beloved national presence, emphasizing its significance as a trusted neighborhood ally. Alongside the inauguration of the 4000th store in Newport, PSC eagerly anticipates the grand opening of a new store in Angeles City, Pampanga, on October 15.
This particular branch is part of PSC’s ongoing efforts to grow its 21 To Go chicken and Cafe Reserve brands. In addition to offering enhanced store amenities and spacious dining areas, this location is committed to sustainable practices by harnessing renewable energy through the use of solar panels. This initiative reflects PSC’s dedication to creating more environmentally friendly and sustainable store operations.
As 7-Eleven marks its 40th anniversary, it acknowledges the numerous occasions and relationships formed within its extensive network of stores. Whether it’s a quick Slurpee stop or satisfying late-night snacks, 7-Eleven continues to be a reliable presence in Filipinos’ everyday lives, offering convenience intertwined with a comforting sense of familiarity.
