American Plans Touchless ID Safety Choice

American Airlines “in the months ahead” will offer AAdvantage members the ability to use Transportation Security Administration PreCheck Touchless ID for security checkpoints “in select airports,” the carrier announced Thursday. It did not share in which airport locations the service would be available.

Members will be able to enroll for Touchless ID before travel and will need an AAdvantage program number, valid U.S. passport information and a Known Traveler Number. Members will need to renew for the service once per year and can opt out at any time, according to American.

United Airlines recently announced it expanded its Touchless ID offering to Salt Lake City International Airport, as did Delta Air Lines with its Digital ID program. Delta and United each also offer the touchless service in Atlanta, Los Angeles and at New York’s LaGuardia Airport. In addition, Delta offers it at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and in Detroit, and United offers the service at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
