BCD Travel has partnered with sustainability management technology provider Squake on an “end-to-end” sustainability offering for companies to set and manage their carbon reduction goals, the travel management company announced.
Through Squake, BCD will offer “active nudging and steering tools” through online booking tools and agent interactions, including letting travelers know the carbon emissions associated with their air, train, hotel and ground transportation bookings and displaying the carbon cost of each trip. Although presenting such data at the point of booking is not a new capability, BCD said the value of its offering would be the capability of using the same methodology across the booking, invoices, itineraries and reporting.
The offering also will be able to tie in BCD’s Advito consulting arm to help clients develop their sustainability strategy, change management and additional analytics tools.
“Until now, our clients have had to spend significant time and energy identifying, selecting and deploying a range of sustainability providers that aren’t easy to integrate together or into their programs,” BCD SVP and Advito managing director April Bridgeman said in a statement. “Along with Squake and Advito, we decided to help by bringing in what was once a fragmented set of features and suppliers together to simplify the process.”
As part of the offering, BCD and Squake are will provide carbon budgeting, forecasting and reporting tools that can help with compliance to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting directive, according to BCD. In addition, BCD will offer automated tools for companies that want to implement a carbon tax or have investment in carbon reduction projects or sustainable aviation fuel as a part of each trip, the company said.
BCD is piloting the offering with Siemens and projects it will be available widely to customers in the first quarter of 2025.
