Uber has launched a new larger car category and added a new Uber Reserve feature that recommends airport departure times, the company announced Wednesday. It also added a new route to its Uber Shuttle at LaGuardia Airport.
Travelers with extra luggage now can order an UberXXL, a new category, for airport pick-ups and drop-offs. Vehicles in this category offer larger trunk space and currently are available for rides to and from more than 60 airports globally, including 40 in the United States and Canada, according to Uber.
Uber Reserve has a new “flight capture” feature in which riders can enter their flight details for a recommended best time to leave for the airport. The company’s flight-tracking capability will alert riders if their flight gets delayed, and Uber will ask if they want to adjust their drop-off accordingly. In addition, riders now can add multiple stops when reserving a ride.
Further, after launching Uber Shuttle for New York’s LaGuardia Airport earlier this year, the company is adding a new route from downtown Manhattan at 198 Fulton St. Uber also plans to expand this service “soon” to other airports.
The company also said it has expanded ride-sharing service UberX Share to airports in Austin, Texas; Denver; Newark, N.J.; Washington, D.C. (Dulles); Miami; New Orleans; Phoenix; and San Francisco as well as internationally in Amsterdam and Madrid.
