Fairmont Breakers Lengthy Seaside formally opens in Southern California

Accor’s luxury Fairmont Hotels & Resorts brand has a new property that’s just as much California chic as it is Old Hollywood.

Fairmont Breakers Long Beach, which was on TPG’s list of most-anticipated hotel openings for 2024, opened this month after undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation. The seaside hotel, which was originally built in 1926, has hosted screen legends like Elizabeth Taylor, Cary Grant and Clark Gable over the years. But no guest will be as glamorous as you, of course. The property was developed in partnership with Pacific6, a local investment and development group, and participates in the Accor Live Limitless loyalty program.

“With the highly anticipated debut of Fairmont Breakers Long Beach, we are not just bringing a piece of history back to life, but together with our partners at Pacific6, we are also ushering in a new era of luxury for Long Beach,” Fairmont CEO Omer Acar said in a statement. “At the heart of who we are at Fairmont, we are at the social epicenter of the destination, celebrating life’s most momentous occasions together.”

The hotel features 185 accommodations, including 22 suites. In true Fairmont form, guests can expect luxe Le Labo amenities along with stunning views of either Long Beach harbor or the palm tree-lined downtown area. The hotel’s renovation is meant to provide both a coastal color palette and a mix of modern furnishings with nods to the past. Original plaster moldings, exterior ornamentation and even the lobby mailbox have been restored to their original 1920s fabulosity.

But guests will also have plenty of modern amenities like a luxury spa, a rooftop bar and the return of the Sky Room, a fine dining restaurant that first opened in Long Beach in 1938 and serves Pacific skyline views alongside fresh seafood and tender steaks. Nettuno, an Italian restaurant, is certain to be a favorite with the power lunch and brunch crowd, while Halo, the hotel’s rooftop bar, is a decadent spot to enjoy a sunset martini. Those looking for further nods to the 1920s can step into Alter Ego, the Fairmont’s jazz bar that offers a dimly lit refuge to unwind after a long day.

The ultimate relaxation, however, will come to those who frequent the Fairmont Spa, a 10,000-square-foot luxury spa offering a wide menu of options for facials, massages and body treatments.

“We are proud to welcome guests to Fairmont Breakers Long Beach.
