United Airlines plans to have its first aircraft outfitted with Starlink satellite Wi-Fi this spring after testing planned to begin in February, the airline announced Sunday. United in September announced its deal with Starlink.
The carrier first will outfit its Embraer E-175 two-cabin regional aircraft fleet with the service, with completion targeted by the end of this year. It also projects its first mainline Starlink-enabled plane to be ready by year-end.
The Wi-Fi service will be free for United’s MileagePlus customers. The carrier previously had not shared details on access to the service.
United is the second major U.S. carrier to announce free Wi-Fi for loyalty customers, following Delta Air Lines’ announcement in February 2023.
