Romania has joined the U.S. Visa Waiver Program, enabling most citizens and nationals of the country to visit the U.S. on business or leisure for up to 90 days without obtaining a visa, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection expects the Electronic System for Travel Authorization to be updated on or around March 31 to enable visa-free travel for Romanians. U.S. citizens already can travel to Romania for up to 90 days without a visa.
Romania is the 43rd country in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program and the fourth added in recent years, following Qatar in 2024, Israel in 2023 and Croatia in 2021.
