Pekoske Eliminated as TSA Chief

The Trump administration has removed U.S. Transportation Security Administration administrator David Pekoske from his post, according to media reports.

CNN on Monday reported that Pekoske had messaged TSA workers that President Trump’s transition team had advised him that his term would end as of noon on Monday. Trump originally appointed Pekoske to the post in 2017, and President Biden appointed him to a second five-year term, which had not yet expired, in 2022.

The Trump transition team has not yet announced a replacement for Pekoske. Trump’s pick to lead the Department of Homeland Security, which includes TSA, is South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, and her nomination is pending approval in the U.S. Senate.
