Porsche Panamera recalled over potential fireplace threat

Porsche has recalled 243 examples of its 2015-2021 Panamera due to an issue that could result in a vehicle fire.

“Due to a design defect, moisture may leak into the additional coolant pump’s control unit. This may cause an electrical short circuit and result in a vehicle fire,” the brand says in its recall notice.

“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders.

“Note: The AUTO REST button in the centre console should not be pressed until the replacement pump has been fitted.

“Owners of affected vehicles should temporarily park their vehicle outdoors and a sufficient distance away from other vehicles and buildings to minimise any possible risk to persons as well as the surrounding area.”

  • A total of 243 vehicles are included in the recall

If you own an affected vehicle, you can contact your preferred Porsche dealer to arrange an inspection and have the work carried out free of charge.
