From delicious restaurants to sweet spots for your sweet tooth to some of the best local libations in the state, these businesses contribute to Montgomery County’s uniquely special food scene. Here are just some of our favorites that we recommend patronizing in March—and all year long.

Miss Toya’s menu is a tribute to the traditional New Orleans gastronomic culture with an avant-garde touch. Dishes bursting with flavor include their voodoo shrimp, seafood po’ boy, Cajun snapper, loaded gumbo, and jambalaya.

Pop Up Poutine serves authentic Montreal poutine with squeaky cheese curds, French-Canadian pastries, and more. They also operate the Rice Around the World restaurant next door and the Taste of Montreal food truck. Rice Around the World’s menu showcases rice bowl dishes from numerous cultures around the world.

Quarry House Tavern

Established in 1917, Quarry House is a basement dive bar with a cult following in Silver Spring. Walk 13 steps down an inconspicuous, covered stairway right off the sidewalk to enter. Expect high-quality bar food, a huge drinks menu, and live music multiple nights per week.

Tropics Ice Cream & Jerk

Tropics has been serving generations of ice cream lovers in Silver Spring for almost 40 years. In addition to the standard flavors, you can find Caribbean favorites you can’t get at most ice cream shops, including soursop, mamey sapote, and ginger. They also serve Jamaican patties and jerk chicken wings.

61 Vineyard

61 Vineyard is a small, family-owned and operated farm winery and working vineyard. Their cozy tasting room offers a view of Sugarloaf Mountain that families and friends can enjoy while sipping sensational wines.

Denizens Brewing Co.

Denizens is a community gathering place for locals, regular customers, and newcomers to the craft beer scene. Everyone has a seat at one of their tables under the guiding principle that we are all unified by beer.

Apple Orchard | Doc Waters Cidery

The first cidery in Montgomery County, Doc Waters’ hard cider is made from apples grown and pressed right on their farm.

Landmade

Landmade is a 33-acre family-operated farm brewery. Their beer is brewed and fermented right on the farm using as many locally-sourced ingredients as possible, including peaches and apples from their orchards and herbs and natural yeast from their gardens.

True Respite Brewing Company

True Respite produces classic and seasonal beers in their above-industry-standard brewing and fermentation equipment. They have a frequently changing selection in their taproom, as well as trivia nights, fitness classes, and other events.

The Urban Winery

The Urban Winery is a unique destination in the middle of Silver Spring, producing more than 30 wines on-site. They also carry other Maryland-produced wines, beers, and spirits.

Waredaca Brewing Company

Waredaca is the only place in the Washington, DC region where you can enjoy local beer on a working horse farm. Every beer they make includes ingredients grown or produced on the farm, which is located in Montgomery County’s 93,000-acre Ag Reserve.
