If limited-edition knives make you giddy, then this upcoming product launch might be the hunting equivalent of a scheduled unicorn appearance.

It goes down tonight (Thursday, March 23) at 7 p.m. MT, when the Triumph SL (“super light”) knife from Montana Knife Company (MKC) and Nock-On Custom Archery becomes available. The lightweight, brightly wrapped blade is designed by the companies’ founders — MKC’s Josh Smith and archery pro John Dudley, respectively — and promises to go as fast as it came.

This is the knife’s first re-release after a popular initial drop — but with a literal twist. A paracord-wrapped, skeletonized, full-tang handle drops the unit’s weight to just 1.9 ounces. It’s forged from cryogenically treated 521000 high-carbon, ball-bearing steel and is 7.5 inches long, which MKC and Nock-On say make it handy to field dress anything from a goat to an elk.

A matte-black finish helps minimize rust and glare, the brands said. For handling, the Triumph SL gets a pronounced finger guard, plus a thumb groove on the spine. Like all MKC knives, it comes with the brand’s guarantee of a lifetime of free sharpening as well as free repair for both the blade and paracord.

While MKC has other paracord knife options on its site, they must be popular — because every single one is currently waiting for a restock.

Available only with paracord in Nock-On’s signature bright green, the Triumph SL costs $225 MSRP and is manufactured right here in the U.S.

This is your last-minute heads-up to get in the virtual line tonight. So we’d suggest signing up for updates right now if you’re interested in nabbing one while supplies last.
