VW Polo and Chevrolet Montana robust in market up 38.3% – Finest Promoting Vehicles Weblog

The new Chevrolet Montana ranks #20 in March.

The new light vehicle market in Brazil is up a splendid 38.3% year-on-year in March to 186,583 units, leading to a first quarter volume up 16.6% to 436,802 sales. We are however still below pre-pandemic March 2019 (199.550). Fiat (+43%) maintains itself atop the brands charts with 22.2% share, distancing Chevrolet (+56.1%) and Volkswagen (+83.4%) which complete a podium entirely outpacing the market. Toyota (+1.7%) is very shy at #4 but its year-ago base was high with a record market share (12.6%). Hyundai (+14.3%) is up one spot on February to #5, swapping ranks with Jeep (+37.4%). In fact, the rest of the Top 10 entirely beats the market with Citroen (+140.9%) the most dynamic above Nissan (+63.9%), Honda (+43.4%) and Renault (+39.3%). Ford (+102.2%) is just outside the Top 10 while Ram (+1246%) posts a surreal year-on-year gain at #16.

Over in the models aisle, the Fiat Strada (+31.3%) holds onto the top spot while the Hyundai HB20 (+21.1%) rallies back up 14 spots on February to return to the 2nd place it held over the Full Year 2022. The Chevrolet Onix (+52.8%) is knocked down to #3 while the VW Polo (+1569.5%) posts a surreal gain potentially due to the availability of the new generation combined with the discontinuation of the Gol. The Chevrolet Onix Plus (+70%) rounds out the Top 5 but stays #3 year-to-date, it is followed by the Jeep Compass (+47.9%) and Renault Kwid (+87%) both in outstanding shape. The Fiat Argo (+100.5%) and Hyundai Creta (+38.1%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10. Notice also the Honda HR-V up 771.9% to #19 and the new Chevrolet Montana up 31 ranks on February to #20.

Previous month: Brazil February 2023: Market down -2.7%, VW (+41.6%), Nissan (+54.5%) impress, Fiat Strada #1

One year ago: Brazil March 2022: Toyota breaks share record, sales sink another -23.8%
