Austria is virtually the last country in the world where the Ford Galaxy is successful.
A year ago in March 2022, sales of new cars in Austria fell -30.1% on the year prior. This month they bounce back 27.4% to 26,307, meaning they haven’t yet returned to March 2021 levels. The Q1 2022 volume is up 20.4% to 63,052. The entire brands podium advance faster than the market: Volkswagen is up +36.3% to 13.3% share, Skoda up 73.8% to 10.2% and Audi up 37.2% to 6.7%. BMW (+14%) is more discreet at #4 whereas Tesla (+53.3%) charges ahead at #5. Dacia (+108.8%) continues to impress at #9 with Seat (+22%), Ford (+19.3%), Mercedes (+19.1%) and Renault (+4.6%) all underperforming. Below, notice MG (+312.5%), Alfa Romeo (+290.5%) and Land Rover (+115.9%) making waves.
Over in the models ranking, the Tesla Model Y (+77.4%) wins another European country with 4.4% share. It now also holds the YTD top spot vs. #3 over the Full Year 2022. The Skoda Octavia (+319.4%) rallies back up from a particularly weak year-ago volume to 2nd place while the VW Golf (+66.1%) shows rare strength at #3. The BMW X1 (+140.8%) lurches from outside the February Top 20 directly into 4th place and now ranks #15 year-to-date. The VW Tiguan (+19.8%) and Dacia Sandero (+45.1%) follow. Below, the Dacia Duster (+137.7%), Skoda Kamiq (+125%) and Audi Q3 (+105.5%) impress. The Seat Ateca (+157.8%) at #15 and Ford Galaxy (+178.8%) at #18 confirm Austria is their most fruitful market.
