Tesla will increase Mannequin 3, Mannequin Y pricing once more

The Tesla Model 3 electric sedan and Model Y SUV have both received an incremental price rise in Australia just a few weeks after receiving a price cut.

All variants of the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y are now $400 more expensive. It’s worth noting the company doesn’t publish list pricing that includes Luxury Car Tax, which means the price adjustments vary once you take this into account.

The 2023 Tesla Model 3 range now starts at $61,300 before on-roads for the RWD, and extends to $87,300 before on-roads for the Performance.

The 2023 Tesla Model Y on the other hand once again starts at $69,300 before on-roads for the RWD, and extends to $95,300 before on-roads for the Performance.

This isn’t the first time Tesla has incrementally upped the pricing of the Model 3 and Model Y after a price cut in Australia, as it did the exact same thing earlier in the year.

The Tesla Model Y was the fourth top-selling vehicle in Australia for April, with 2095 examples sold. It was outsold by the Ford Ranger, Toyota HiLux, and Toyota RAV4.

The Tesla Model 3 was also the top-selling medium passenger car in April, with 1581 examples sold. It outsold the likes of the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and Lexus ES.

As previously reported, Tesla is currently working on an updated version of the Model 3 sedan, with a refreshed version of the related Model Y SUV set to follow.

Tesla recently introduced the Model Y Long Range in Australia too. It’s now priced from $82,300 before on-road costs following the $400 price increase.

A report by Reuters quotes sources saying the updated crossover, codenamed Project Juniper internally, is expected to enter production in October 2024.

It’s unclear just what changes are coming to the crossover, though the Model 3 update – codenamed Project Highland – looks set to receive visual updates to its front and rear ends, among other tweaks.
