Watch this Camaro get cleaned after 12 years gathering mud

The owner of a 1983 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 has given YouTube viewers a look at her vintage pony car that has sat in her garage for 12 years untouched.

In a rather cathartic video shared by WD Detailing, the Camaro was brought back to life after an extensive cleaning and detailing.

The vehicle was originally owned by her father and purchased in 1984, after its original owner had the vehicle for a year.

At the time of purchase, the woman says the vehicle had very low mileage. In its current state, the Camaro still only has 28,000 miles (45,061km) on the odometer.

Thanks to a rod knock, the vehicle was benched to the family garage where it developed a layer of dust over time and became home to a family of mice.

It’s not clear when, but the vehicle’s engine was swapped out at some point for a Summit Racing 255 cubic-inch V8 with FiTech electronic fuel injection.

WD Detailing notes the ‘basket weave’ style wheels are from a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am of the same era, among some other tweaks, so it’s not bone-stock cosmetically either.

At the beginning of the video, the interior of the vehicle looked a little worse for wear thanks to the little family that made it home, as well as the empty wrappers and dust.

On the outside, the crisp black and gold finish was restored to its original state after a pressure washer removed all the dust.

The vehicle was deep-cleaned, buffed and handed back to the owner. She plans to drive it with the t-tops off, wearing a denim jacket and a pair of aviators.
