The latest SUV from Lynk & Co, owned by China’s Geely, has a plug-in hybrid powertrain that reportedly offers 245km of range.
Car News China has published some key specifications of the new Lynk & Co 08 crossover, which was revealed in March.
It’s powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and two electric motors (one front- and one rear-mounted) producing total system outputs of 400kW of power and 900Nm of torque.
Drive is sent to all four wheels through a three-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), with a claimed 0-100km/h time of 5.0 seconds.
The SUV is also fitted with a 39.6kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) lithium-ion battery, which is good for an electric range of 245km according to lenient CLTC testing. With a full tank of petrol, combined range is 1400km.
The Lynk & Co 08 is based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform which underpins the likes of the Lynk & Co 01, 02, 03, and 05, as well as the Volvo XC40, C40, and the Polestar 2.
It measures in at 4820mm long, 1915mm wide, and 1685mm tall, with a 2848mm wheelbase. This is slightly larger than the likes of the BMW X4 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe.
At the front the crossover has a reworked version of Lynk & Co’s fork-like LED daytime running light signature, as well as a full-width light bar that houses the main headlight beams.
There are vertical side air intakes on the front bumper, as well as a large hexagonal air intake at the bottom.
Around the side there are 21-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, pop-out door handles, and glossy wheel arch cladding. There’s also a two-tone exterior paint job.
Down back, there’s a full-width LED light bar with a Lynk & Co logo underneath it, indentations that house rear reflectors, and a large diffuser-like piece down the bottom.
On the inside there’s a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. There’s also an augmented-reality head-up display and a wireless charger.
Geely announced in November 2021 that it aims to bring the Lynk & Co brand to Australia by 2025, though it hasn’t made any announcements since.
“Lynk & Co will expand its global presence by entering Russia, Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand among others,” said Geely in its original press release detailing its ‘Smart Geely 2025 Strategy’ roadmap.
It’s unclear whether the 08 would be among the vehicles Lynk & Co would sell here.
