Suzuki Australia publicizes new managing director

There’s a new boss at Suzuki Australia.

Shuzo Hoshikura is the new managing director at Suzuki Australia. He previously managed the Chinese market for Suzuki Motor Corporation.

More recently, Hoshikura-san was the group manager for Suzuki’s Asia Automobile Marketing Group, in charge of Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia and Philippines.

The changing of the guard is effective immediately after his predecessor Yoshiyuki Hakamata returned to Japan in April to begin work on a new assignment with Suzuki Motor Corporation.

“I am both honoured and humbled to have been selected to lead such a dedicated and dynamic team in Australia,” said Hoshikura-san.

“Hakamata-san has been a tremendous asset to Suzuki Australia during his five year tenure, and we are grateful for his efforts in building the brand from strength to strength,” said Michael Pachota, general manager of Suzuki Australia.

“We now look forward to continuing to build on that strong foundation with Hoshikura san.”

Suzuki in Australia sold 4110 cars more in 2022 than it did in 2021, for a total of 21,578 sales.

This was up 23.5 per cent, and saw it sit in 15th place among car brands.

Its popular Jimny line could be bolstered as early as late this year with a new five-door model, but otherwise there are no major vehicle launches on the calendar this year.
