King off the street? Bubble-wrapped LandCruiser 70 has barely touched tarmac

The owner of a 2021 Toyota LandCruiser 70th Anniversary Special Edition has listed it, wrapped in plastic, for $139,000 excluding on-road costs.

With used car prices still high and LandCruiser 70 Series orders still closed, it’s no surprise that a special edition dual-cab-chassis model has made its way online for an additional $56,400.

According to the ad placed on a prominent classifieds site, the vehicle features a Sandy Taupe exterior finish, has only 12km on the odometer, and has had its fluids drained and battery disconnected for long-term storage.

Its new owners are able to add a tray of their liking.

The vehicle has never have been registered and has remained in its bubble wrap since delivery in 2021.

Toyota only produced 600 examples of its 70th Anniversary special edition including 320 double cabs, 200 single cabs, and 80 wagons, with deliveries beginning in September 2021.

At the time of its launch, the special edition wagon was priced at $78,500 before on-road costs, the single cab cost $80,050 before on-roads, and the double cab cost $82,600 before on-roads.

The 70th Anniversary Edition features:

  • ‘Heritage’ black grille with a Toyota lettered logo
  • LED front fog lights and daytime running lights
  • 16-inch alloy wheels
  • Tinted headlight bezels
  • Black front bumper and wheel arch flares
  • ‘Premium’ black cloth upholstery
  • Black leather-accented steering wheel and shifter
  • Faux woodgrain across the dashboard
  • Silver accents around the air vents
  • ‘Black Treatment’ for the switches on the door
  • A new centre console design
  • 2x cupholders
  • 2x USB A ports

The vehicle was available in French Vanilla, Merlot Red and Sandy Taupe finishes.
