On June 24th and 25th, in collaboration with Visit Montgomery, Heritage Montgomery will be hosting their 24th Heritage Days celebration, featuring free, family-friendly events at over 30 historical, cultural and outdoor recreation sites across the county!
Chock-full of museums tours, exhibits and demonstrations, biking and hiking tours, arts and crafts and live music, Heritage Days has something for everyone.
“Heritage Days is the perfect opportunity for visitors and residents to explore a selection of Montgomery County’s historic sites that are not regularly open to the public,” Visit Montgomery President and CEO Kelly Groff explains.
Take a step back in time at the Seneca Schoolhouse Museum, a restored 1880s one-room schoolhouse or venture to the Woodend Nature Sanctuary to learn about the natural habitats that are located amidst our rapidly urbanizing region.
Visit Sandy Spring Museum for a lively Bluegrass Jam or tour the Josiah Henson Museum to learn about the extraordinary life of Rev. Josiah Henson, formerly enslaved on the Riley plantation in Montgomery County.
With plenty more family-friendly sites and activities highlighting local history, culture and nature than those mentioned above, this weekend is a great chance for history buffs, art enthusiasts and anyone else to take some time to appreciate one of 13 heritage areas in the State of Maryland.
