eTurboNews:

This incident occurred on the Uganda border in Western Uganda, and such incidents are very isolated. Uganda People’s Defense Forces has indicated that Kasese district and the entire Rwenzori sub-region is secure, calm, and peaceful.

At least 38 students in their dormitories were killed during the attack. Some of the students who died were burned beyond recognition, while others were attacked with guns and machetes. Also among the dead, is a guard and 2 residents in the community of Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town. According to a Uganda military statement, the rebels abducted 6 students and used as porters of food stolen from the school’s store. The private co-ed Lhubiriha Secondary School is located just over a mile from the Congo border.

The ADF, Allied Democratic Forces, responsible for the massacre, is an extremist group which has been launching attacks for years from bases in volatile eastern Congo.

The tourists to Uganda are safe.

Uganda Tourism Board wishes to state that the incident should not deter travelers from visiting their remarkable country. Uganda has stunning landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and diverse wildlife. By continuing to support Uganda’s tourism industry, visitors can contribute to the nation’s economic growth and demonstrate solidarity with Ugandan people.

Furthermore, Uganda’s renowned national parks, such as Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Kidepo National Park, and Queen Elizabeth offer extraordinary opportunities to encounter endangered mountain gorillas, lions, birds, and countless other species in their natural habitats. Meeting eyes with a silverback mountain gorilla across a misty jungle, after an arduous hike through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, leaves everlasting impressions of arguably the best wildlife safari in the world.

In addition to national parks, Uganda is an outdoor sanctuary of crater lakes, white-sand beaches on lake islands, and thundering waterfalls. By choosing to visit Uganda, travelers can showcase their unwavering spirit, experience the country’s natural beauty, and celebrate its remarkable attributes.

“Nothing will limit us from selling our beautiful Africa.”

Lucy Maruhi, Managing Director, Shelter Connections & Events Organizer
