When the brand new Hyundai Kona Hybrid, Electrical arrive in Australia

The Hyundai Kona range will be petrol-only at launch, before hybrid and electric options join the range later in 2023.

The critical compact SUV brings more technology, more space, and more powertrain options to the table than its predecessor, although its starting price has risen to reflect that.

Petrol-only Kona models will roll out over the coming months; 2.0-litre models without the N Line Pack or 1.6-litre N Line turbo models have already arrived in Australia, with 2.0-litre N Line models to follow in the third quarter of 2023.

The Hybrid range will touch down in the fourth quarter of 2023, as will the Kona Electric.

Hyundai’s more grown-up new Kona will go head-to-head with the Kia Seltos, Mazda CX-30, and Toyota Corolla Cross in petrol and hybrid guises.

Pricing for the new Kona Hybrid will kick off at $36,000 before on-road costs, and will extend to $46,500 before on-roads.

As for the Electric? Pricing will be a factor in whether it crosses over with the BYD Atto 3 or MG ZS EV at the bottom end of the range, but it’ll be cross-shopped with the Kia Niro EV, Tesla Model Y, and even the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric.

The outgoing range starts at $58,000 before on-road costs, and extends to $64,000 before on-roads.
