Nebraska’s biggest city is getting a new nonstop connection to South Florida’s sunny beaches.
On Jan. 13, Southwest Airlines will begin Saturday-only nonstop flights between Omaha’s Eppley Airfield (OMA) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) in South Florida.
That was the only new route announced Thursday as Southwest extended its booking schedule through March 6. The carrier’s schedule extension typically includes numerous new routes, but the seasonal Nebraska-Florida route was the only one it announced this time around.

While Thursday’s extension may have been light on new routes, Southwest is bringing back more than 30 seasonal routes that had been slated to return for its winter schedule.
Cities seeing the biggest bumps in the return of seasonal routes include Southwest destinations in Florida, as well as at its bases in Dallas, Houston and Nashville.
