When is the 2023 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale will start on July 11, 2023.
During the first week of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, from July 11-16, 2023, only Nordstrom cardholders will have access to the deals. If you don’t have a Nordstrom credit or debit card yet, it’s not too late to apply and enjoy early access to the sale.
Everyone can shop the Nordstrom Anniversary sale starting July 17 through August 6.
Starting July 17, 2023, the sale opens up to the public, and everyone can take advantage of the discounts. However, popular items tend to sell out quickly, so it’s best to shop as early as possible. The sale ends on August 6, 2023, after which prices go back up to their regular rates. Whether you’re looking to refresh your wardrobe, stock up on beauty products, or spruce up your home decor, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is the perfect opportunity to save on all your favorite brands.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale offers early access to Nordstrom cardholders, giving them the opportunity to shop thousands of new items at discounted prices. Those without a Nordstrom card can apply for one easily through this link. The sale will later be available to everyone a few weeks after the start of Early Access.
Nordy club cardmembers can shop early and get first dibs on all of the best items in the sale. Unfortunately, things do go out of stock!
Why I shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
Every year I wait until the Nordstrom sale to really do the bulk of my shopping. The pieces on sale will last me the entire year and then some and are always my most worn pieces.
Last year I bought hiking boots, tennis shoes, leggings, sweaters, a coat, jeans, and other staple pieces that I wear year after year. There are also high quality beauty items that I’ll use for the entire year. This is also the time to stock up on gifts (like Barefoot Dreams blankets!) and so much more.
It’s my favorite sale of the year and I actually wait to shop here more than any other sale! I’m excited!
I often think many who cover the sale over-buy. I only share things I personally buy and use.
I am moving abroad later this year and I am so thrilled to grab my favorite things I know I will wear year after year. Truly, this is the sales event of the year.

What is the Nordstom Anniversary Sale?
Each year Nordstrom offers one HUGE sale with merchandise offered at a discounted rate. Nordstrom card members have earlier access (yes, things do sell out) and then it’s open to the public. All NSale merchandise is offered at a great discount but it can be overwhelming. That’s why I plan to share a detailed guide so you can get the best bang for your buck.
Nordstrom’s half-yearly sales in spring and fall may be popular, but the anniversary sale is truly exceptional for Nordstrom shoppers. This is because they have the opportunity to purchase amazing fall merchandise at discounted prices before it is released to the general public. Personally, this is when I do the bulk of my clothes shopping for the year.
The NSale officially starts July 6th with a preview June 29. The sale is open to the public starting July 15th. Here’s a look at when you can shop:
- June 29: Preview the sale and start picking out what you’d like to buy!
- July 11: Those with “Icon” status can start shopping on July 11th. You can achieve this status by spending at least $15,000 a year on your Nordstrom credit card.
- July 12: “Ambassadors” can start shopping on July 12th. Achieve this status by spending at least $5,000 a year.
- July 13: If you spend $2,000 a year, you can achieve “Influencer” status. These members can access the sale on July 13.
- July 17: Sale is open to the public!
- August 6: The Anniversary Sale ends
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Icon Access
Nordstrom’s Nordy Club members who hold Icon or Ambassador status can start shopping the Anniversary Sale earlier than others. Icon members get access a few days prior to the sale’s start date, on July 11th, while Ambassador members gain entry on July 12th. Online shopping is available from 12:01 AM ET on the respective dates.
In addition, Nordstrom Rewards customers earn points on every net purchase made in stores and online, which can be redeemed for a $20 Nordstrom Note.
Nordy Club, the company’s loyalty program, is free to join and offers accelerated rewards, exclusive services, and personalized experiences. Having early access to sale items is a significant benefit, as merchandise tends to sell out quickly during Early Access. Even if you don’t purchase anything, it’s worth seeing the merchandise before the general public.

What I Shop For at the NSale

Zella – the best leggings ever! Also tried their sports bras last year as well as a fleece. Both were a win.
Barefoot Dreams – The cult blanket is worth it, but I also love the cardigans.
Spanx – best “going out” leggings and great bras.
Free People – The cutest dresses and staple sweaters.
Charlotte Tilbury – For lipstick and makeup staples.
Topshop – My most worn sweaters and basics.
Good American – By far my most worn jeans.
Steve Madden – Boots and booties galore.
Olaplex – My favorite hair care.

Just looking at these pictures above I definitely wore everything multiple times! I think I brought the skirt on at least 5 trips! I love things I can wear throughout the year.
This year Nordstrom has some extra fun incentives for shipping in store such as restaurant week, for 3 courses for $35 and happy hours. I prefer to shop online since there are more options for sizes and colors.
Nordstrom Sale Best Practices
The reason why I go into detail is because things sell out fast during Early Access. So I try to be up front about what I think you really need.
My strategy for shopping the Nordstrom anniversary sale is to make a list of things I need, write down my favorite retailers, and make a list of what I want from most wanted to least.
Nordstrom card members can earn double points for shopping the sale and you can even schedule a Double points day when you know you’re going to make a big purchase.
I like to make a wish list of my favorite things during the Preview so I can plan ahead!
Before the sale starts:
- First, sign up for a Nordstrom card. This is the best way to save money during the sale.
- Mark your calendars for when you can shop the sale. Sale dates above! Early Access starting July 11th and open to the public July 17 at 9:30AM ET. You MUST be a cardholder to access the sale during Early Access. Otherwise, you can start shopping on July 17 during Public Access. If you notice, this is much earlier than years prior!
- Start planning your picks by adding them to your online wish list.

I prefer to shop online and do an in-store pickup to avoid the crowds and ensure I get my right sizing. Shipping is free and next day delivery is only $20 so there are tons of perks. If items are in stock from your local store you can have them delivered to you on the same day for just $15!
Nordstrom also has the best return policy on earth. You buy something and realize you don’t like it, you can easily return it!

If you’re a Nordstrom cardholder, you’ll get early access to the sale before it opens to the public. The exact access dates vary depending on your Nordstrom card status. Icon level cardholders get the earliest access, followed by Ambassador and Influencer cardholders. Finally, Insider cardholders get access to the sale a few days before it opens to the public. Be sure to check your Nordstrom account or email to find out your access date.
If you’re not a Nordstrom cardholder, don’t worry – you’ll still have plenty of time to shop the sale. The public sale period typically lasts for a couple of weeks, giving you ample time to find the perfect deals. However, keep in mind that popular items tend to sell out quickly, so it’s a good idea to shop early if you can. And if you’re not sure what to buy, Nordstrom offers free styling services both in-store and online to help you find the perfect pieces to add to your wardrobe.
Full disclosure: online is best. It can get really busy in store and there’s no guarantee on what’s in stock or sizing. There is also free shipping and free returns in case something doesn’t work out. There’s also curbside pick ups and returns and even same day shipping as well as international shipping!
