Prepared for a Change? Listed below are Issues You Can Do to Change Your Look!

There is nothing worse than the feeling you get when you catch a glance at your own reflection and you are just not happy with what you see. Perhaps you’ve walked past a window somewhere and you notice yourself reflected in your current outfit. Perhaps you are trying to get ready for work and you catch sight of your body for the first time in ages? Either way, you need to like what you see in the mirror and while all of us go through moments of really disliking the person staring back, you have to do all you can to change the narrative.

When we talk about changing the narrative, sometimes that comes down to changing your appearance entirely. It may not be something you choose to do easily, because your preoccupation is usually going to be on your internal qualities. It’s still not easy to disregard the person staring back in the mirror, and that’s why professionals like Dr. Andrew Jacono can support a change you want to make. Whether you want to emphasize your appearance and enhance, or you want to change your appearance entirely, you have the option to make the changes that are right for you. Your self-worth and self-esteem really do matter, and you have to do what’s right for you to emphasize them. So, with that in mind, we’ve put together a list of things that you can do sooner than later to change your appearance and feel better about yourself.

  1. Stop looking at social media. Okay, so this would be rather impossible to be fair, but it’s more about stopping comparing yourself to what you see on social media. From your friends and their lives to the lives of fit-influencers, you do not need to measure yourself up against some impossible standard of beauty. You are never going to be able to change the standards of beauty that society has – not alone, anyway. However, you can start to focus on the beauty in you that you see in real life rather than focus on the beauty adverts and influencing adverts. You don’t need to look at others and compare yourself anymore; you are enough – just as you are.
  2. Throw out the idea that the media knows what beauty is. You are going to do so much better when you remember that the media-defined ideals of beauty do not need to influence you when the people already in your life are doing that. We already know that people around us come in all shapes and sizes, all colors and styles. If you are vigilant about looking for beauty in those you already spend time with rather than airbrushed or photoshopped models, you’re going to be a much happier individual overall.
  3. Learn to lean into you, not your looks. Changing your appearance with surgery can give you a huge boost to your self-esteem, but what about you on the inside? Are you still as secure as ever when you have had a nose job but you haven’t figured out how to be the best person you can be? Making your self-esteem something you base on your inner qualities will help you to really see that you on the inside is worth every single happy feeling you can muster. You remember what Roald Dahl’s ‘Twits’ was all about, right? The better you are on the inside, the more you shine on the outside. You need to make that your life!
  4. Stop freaking out over ‘looking bad’. It’s not the easiest thing that you should do but it’s something to think about. Looking bad for whom? In whose eyes would you ‘look bad’? All of that stress and anxiety takes a huge toll on you and your feelings, and it doesn’t have to be that way at all! You can start remembering that your appearance should matter to you and if YOU don’t think you look bad, that’s what counts more than anything else.
  5. Keep smiling. If you’ve just got your teeth fixed, then you should absolutely smile as much as possible. You should also smile as much as possible prior to your teeth being straightened out. Assembling your features into a happy, pleasant expression is less about others and their perception of you, and more about being able to muster up some happiness and relaxation where you can. People do, of course, love to see others smile, but this is about you and not anyone else.
  6. Refresh your makeup look. Are you someone who cannot go a day without wearing makeup? You aren’t alone in that, but you should either try to refresh your current makeup look, or go makeup free from time to time. You might feel that you are more confident when your skin has a real chance to breathe and look more natural. There is nothing wrong with enjoying makeup and if makeup makes you feel good, go for it. You should instead look at freshening up your collection. If you’re still using eyeliner from a decade ago, it’s time for a change!
  7. Dress comfortably. Are you actually comfortable with your style? If you’re not, who are you dressing for if not for yourself? It’s a big question to ask yourself, though, because you may want to take some time to explore what you need more than anything else. If you let go of the expectations of others and dress for your own comfort for a change, you are going to be more true to yourself. This in itself is going to be an epic change to your appearance, and you’ll feel ready for it.
  8. Focus on your health. If you want to ensure that you are able to make your appearance feel good, you should stop focusing on your looks and instead, focus on your health. You will be a much happier human being if your focus shifts to the health on the inside compared to the look on the outside. Eat sensibly and work to get in a shape that feels good to you.
