In Lisbon Tremendous Shy by New Denims Goes Viral – Worldtourism Wire

The Korean film was shot in many locations throughout Lisbon, Portugal, including Marvila, Campo das Cebolas, Miradouro e Jardim do Torel, and a local market.

The neighborhood of Marvila, located between Lisboa’s historic center and the contemporary region of Parque das Naçes, is the perfect place to begin a street art tour. Building on the legacy of EXPO’98, the last world exposition of the twentieth century, Parque das Naçes features modern architecture such as the Pavilho do Conhecimento museum and the Oceanário de Lisboa, one of the largest oceanariums in Europe.

Visitors to the historic district along the riverbank are reminded of Portugal’s Catholic past as they pass through the country’s many monasteries, convents, and cathedrals. The Romanesque Sé Cathedral, the oldest and most significant ecclesiastical building in Lisbon, dates back to the 12th century.

Stop at the Campo das Cebolas landmark “Casa dos Bicos” to learn more about the Foundation honoring José Saramago, Portugal’s Nobel Prize winner in Literature, on your route. Before ascending to the city itself, stop by Praça do Comércio, once known as the Terreiro do Paço (Royal Yard) and now home to landmarks like the Estaço Sul e Sueste, the Arco da Rua Augusta, and the Lisboa Story Centre.

By foot, we can reach Praça do Rossio, one of Lisboa’s important squares since the Middle Ages, and the imposing Neo-Manueline edifice that houses the Rossio Train Station, thanks to the Pombaline grid of streets that makes up the Baixa neighborhood. We’ll be taking Avenida da Liberdade, a hip street where you can shop for high-end labels, to go to Miradouro e Jardim do Torel. Miradouro e Jardim do Torel is the perfect place to unwind and take in the cityscape as the sun sets.

Peace and quiet may be found in Portugal’s basic yet exquisite way of life, whether you’re wandering through an ancient city or lounging on a rooftop. Nature, history, waves, heritage, towns, villages, the countryside, and islands: these are just some of the reasons why VisitPortugal wants to get the word out about Portugal as a tourist destination.
