Genesis’ best-seller getting a mid-life refresh

The Genesis GV70 entered production in 2020, arriving in Australia the following year, so it’s therefore getting close to mid-life update time.

In photos shared on the Genesis GV Owners Australia group on Facebook, we can see a camouflaged example on a vehicle carrier bearing some cosmetic tweaks.

A reveal could take place this year or, perhaps more likely, during 2024.

The split-level lighting front and rear – a Genesis signature – continues, but the internal elements appear to have been revised. The poster of these shots, which were taken in South Korea, says the new headlights have matrix LED technology.

There also appears to be a new wheel design, while camouflage could be hiding tweaks to the front and rear bumpers.

It’s unclear what other changes may come with this mid-life update.

The GV70 currently offers a choice of turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, a twin-turbo petrol V6, and a dual-motor electric powertrain.

It’s the brand’s best-selling vehicle in Australia. In the first half of this year, Genesis sold 516 examples – more than all the brand’s other models combined.

While it has yet to reach the heights of segment stalwarts from Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Lexus, the GV70 has comfortably outsold the Alfa Romeo Stelvio (89 sales) and recently introduced Maserati Grecale (234), while also outpacing the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque combined (387 sales).

The GV70 isn’t the only Genesis product set to go under the knife, with an updated GV80 also spied testing recently.

The GV80 range is also gaining a new coupe SUV body style, but we’ve yet to hear of a similar introduction for the GV70 to rival the likes of the BMW X4.
