MGM Resorts & On line casino Massive Change from Hyatt to Marriott – Worldtourism Wire

Hyatt may have had enough to have its brand tainted by complaints about MGM Resorts’ misleading consumer practices.

MGM Hotels and Resorts are known for being the largest hotel group in Las Vegas, operating resorts and casinos throughout the city and beyond.

The company is also known for questionable methods to mislead guests staying at its resorts. This includes unreasonable resort and parking fees, unmarked overpriced items in convenience stores, pools that close in the afternoon so those attending events can never use them, spas that charge an arm and a leg for guests to relax in the sauna, minibars with $10 water, and other opportunities to get additional money from noon suspecting guests.

When you were looking for Hyatt hotels in Las Vegas, MGM was listed on hyatt.com as an affiliated group for several years. World of Hyatt status for award members could enjoy all benefits Hyatt offers them when booking and staying at these MGM resorts in Las Vegas.

This has now switched from Hyatt to its largest competitor Marriott.

Last week those that had a pending reservation at MGM Resorts through Hyatt and beyond October this year received a letter from Hyatt saying the reservation was OK, but they would be no more benefits with Hyatt.

Expected status nights and World of Hyatt points would no longer be credited for the already booked reservation.

Today Marriott, the owner of the Marriott Bonvoy program announced:

Marriott International and BetMGM signed a loyalty marketing agreement to make Marriott Bonvoy the exclusive hospitality loyalty program partner of BetMGM.

A press release issued by Marriott stated:

Marriott International, Inc. (Nasdaq: MAR) and MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) announced today an exclusive long-term strategic licensing agreement and the creation of MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy, which will launch in October 2023, and encompass 17 of MGM’s unrivaled resorts, representing more than 40,000 rooms in Las Vegas and other cities across the U.S.

MGM Hotels and Resorts are operating in Las Vegas and several other cities.
