Revenue per available room and average daily rates for U.S. hotels in June increased year over year while occupancy dipped again, according to hospitality analytics firm STR.
June U.S. hotel ADR was $158.40, up 2.3 percent year over year and up from $156.25 recorded the month prior. June U.S. hotel RevPAR increased 1.9 percent year over year to $110.33, which was also above May’s $101.31.
U.S. hotel occupancy in June slipped 0.4 percent year over year to 69.7 percent, though it was up slightly over 64.8 percent recorded the month prior.
Among STR’s top 25 markets, New York in June again reported the highest occupancy level at 85.4 percent, up 1.7 percent year over year, and was the “only market to post ADR over $300,” according to STR. Markets with the lowest June occupancy include New Orleans with 58.2 percent and Phoenix at 62.7 percent.
According to STR, June reflected continued improvement in business and group travel, as the top 25 markets showed higher occupancy and ADR than all other markets.
